The participation of All Sports Academy-Africa (ASAAF) at the August School  Holiday U18 Baseball Tournament, held in Nakuru on 25–26 July 2026, was an  overwhelming triumph. With the generous support of the Ubuntu Fund, $322 enabled our contingent of 16 student-athletes and 3 coaches was able to travel  from Kiambu West and compete against the region's finest talent. The project's  core objectives—to provide equitable access to competitive sport, foster character  development, and create pathways for youth success—were not only met but far  exceeded. The tournament proved to be a landmark moment for our student athletes, culminating in a historic championship victory that has placed All  Sports Academy-Africa firmly on the regional baseball map.

Smooth Travel and Arrangements 

Our contingent departed Kiambu West on the morning of Friday, 24 July 2026,  arriving in Elburgon later that evening. The team enjoyed a hearty supper and  overnight accommodation at a comfortable guest house, ensuring that all players  were well-rested and fully prepared for the competitive days ahead.

Strategic Practice Session 

On Saturday, 25 July 2026, our team had the invaluable opportunity to practice  alongside the host club, Alice in Africa Baseball Club. This pre-tournament  session allowed our players to acclimatize to the field conditions, build  camaraderie with fellow athletes, and fine-tune their skills in a supportive  environment ahead of the main competition. The practice session fostered a  spirit of mutual respect and collaboration between our two academies, setting a  positive tone for the tournament.

Economical and Well-Organized Logistics 

The efficient arrangement ensured that our athletes were well-nourished and  rested without exceeding the project budget. The careful planning and favorable  arrangement secured with the guest house in Elbergon reflect our commitment  to responsible financial stewardship.

Championship Match 

The championship final was played against the host team, Alice in Africa  Baseball Club, on Sunday, 26 July 2026. This was the only match played  between our two teams during the tournament. In a thrilling and hard-fought  contest, our athletes delivered a stunning performance, triumphing with a  commanding score of 17 runs to 8. This victory secured the tournament GOLD MEDAL and the championship trophy position the single greatest achievement  in our academy's young history.

Athletic Development and Team Performance 

• CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY: Our 18U team delivered a stunning performance,  winning the tournament GOLD MEDAL. The commanding 17–8 victory against  the host team showcased exceptional offensive power and defensive discipline. 

• Dominant Performance: The team played with confidence and precision  throughout the match, demonstrating the quality of training and the resilience  instilled in our players. 

• Individual Accolades: Our players were recognized for their standout  performances: 

  • Kennedy Obama, our lead pitcher, was named Tournament Most  Valuable Player (MVP) for his commanding presence on the mound. 

  • Patrick Kamau received the Best Defensive Player award for his  exceptional performance at shortstop. 

• In the Outstanding performance Category; we had three players who  made HOM E RUNS namely; 

  • Obama Kennedy 

  • Stephene Nyongesa  

  • Joseph Ngatia 

 

We made a history in the hosts teams playing field, where by they have had only  one homerun in the year 2024 where a senior player made a homerun in the  history of the field. Our three home runners left unforgettable elite performance  in the town.

 

Significant Improvement from Previous Tournament 

This achievement marks a notable improvement compared to the previous  tournament, where our team was eliminated at the group stage. Securing the  championship trophy demonstrates the remarkable growth and resilience of our  players and highlights the impact of external support in enabling participation  and success.

Team Cohesion and Character Building (Ubuntu in Action) 

Strengthened Brotherhood: The shared experience of travel, lodging, and historic  victory forged an unbreakable bond among the players. From the journey to  Elbergon to the celebratory moments after the final whistle, the team operated  with a visible sense of unity, supporting one another through every inning and  celebrating their success as one family, embodying the very spirit of Ubuntu.

Demonstrated Resilience and Composure: Our athletes faced high-pressure  moments with remarkable composure. The Saturday practice session with Alice  in Africa served as an excellent warm-up, allowing our players to build  confidence and chemistry before the main competition. 

Mentorship and Leadership: Our coaches reported significant growth in the  leadership skills of the older players, who naturally took on mentorship roles for  the younger team members, guiding them through the intensity of the  tournament environment.

Learning and Personal Development. 

The event was not only a sporting success but also a profound learning  experience for our learners. The tournament fostered: 

• Teamwork: Players learned to work together, communicate effectively, and trust  one another on and off the field. 

• Discipline: The structured environment of the tournament reinforced the  importance of punctuality, focus, and adherence to team strategy. 

• Confidence: Competing against and defeating top-tier opposition instilled a deep  sense of self-belief in our athletes.

• Resilience: Facing pressure situations and overcoming challenges built mental  toughness that will serve our players well beyond the baseball diamond.

Regional Collaboration and Sportsmanship 

Expanded Network: The tournament served as a vital networking opportunity,  allowing our coaches and athletes to connect with the host club, Alice in Africa  Baseball Club, as well as other baseball stakeholders from Nairobi, Nakuru, and  the Rift Valley. This has opened doors for future friendly matches and training  exchanges.

Exemplary Conduct: Throughout the competition, our team was commended by  tournament officials and the host club for their discipline, respect, and  sportsmanship. This recognition highlights the positive values instilled at ASAA  and builds a strong reputation for the academy within the Kenyan baseball  community.

Institutional Growth and Visibility 

Elevated Profile: ASAAF's championship victory has dramatically raised our  profile as a premier baseball institution in Kenya. We have received an  outpouring of interest from prospective students, parents, and other academies  eager to learn from our success.

 

Tangible Return on Infrastructure Investment: The support from the Ubuntu  Fund for our training backstop proved invaluable. The skills, precision, and  confidence our players developed through consistent, safe training were directly  observable in their performance on the Nakuru field—particularly in the 17-run  offensive display in the final. This victory validates the prior investment and  showcases its powerful synergy with competitive opportunities.
